7 Ways to Raise Your Self Esteem by Changing Your Thoughts

7 Ways to Raise Your Self Esteem

by Changing Your Thoughts

By Mary Jane Walsh

All right! Do you think this sounds too good to be true? Change your thoughts, boost your self-esteem? Well, it’s actually just that easy. Of course, it takes time.

As a student studying self-improvement, I ran across several great resources. One of my favorites is the work of Dr. Lynda Klau. Much of her work focuses on mindfulness, relearning self-love and recommitting to yourself.

Self-esteem is defined as your value, your actual worth. Well, folks, we all come with the same amount of worth. And we arrive with all of our worth from day one. The problem is that sometimes we get too busy, or we forget, or we are never taught this.

If ya can’t RAISE your self-esteem, what you can do is PRACTICE great self-esteem thoughts!

That simple!

You can practice these TRUE, self-esteeming thoughts daily. It may seem odd or awkward at first, but KEEP GOING. It will soon become second nature.

GIVE IT 21 DAYS. Three weeks, folks. That’s it. And you’ll have an excellent self-esteem thought practice.

Thoughts lead to feelings, and feelings lead to actions, and actions lead to results!

So, here we go!

  1. I am 100% worthy. Nothing outside of me can increase or decrease my essential value.

This affirmation floored me. Too often we hold the opposite beliefs: that our worth is conditional upon a relationship, perfect job, salary, car, house or anything else. This is conditional self-love. The truth is worth and value are actually unconditional points. We just have to see this!

  1. I deserve excellent self-care.

Excellent self-care is such an important practice. It the the number one thing that we can do for ourselve to affirm that we require time, compassion, compassionate touch, attention, and our own resources.

  1. The best investment I can make is an investment in myself.

By taking excellent care of ourselves, we are able to be fully present and caring for others.

  1. I have a purpose within me. It is beautiful, expansive and bigger than me.

The more I focus on this truth, the more I allow it to organically blossom within me and fill my environment, my relationships and my space.

  1. I deserve love. The greatest love is within me- self love.

It is easy to lose sight of this notion, or even to never learn this at all. The greatest source of love comes from within. As I begin to see this truth and acknowledge it, I begin to flow my energy to ways that I can tap into this beautiful truth.

  1. When I see and live in my light, I inspire others to do the same.

Too often, we play small, afriad of standing in our light. By choosing to nourish our own inner greatness, we inspire those around us to do the same.

  1. And again… I AM 100% WORTHY… already!

You are on your way!

Mirror work is some of the best work. And of course, this can feel majorly awkward. But, there is something about not only saying affirmations aloud and hearing yourself, but looking into your eyes while you say these words can be even more powerful.

So, write all 7 (or come up with your own) on a 3×5 card and tape it to your medicine cabinet, and while you’re washing your face and brushing your teeth say these affirmations… twice a day!

Stick with it! You are worth it.
