My Favorite New Mantra: START BEFORE YOU’RE READY

By Mary Jane Walsh

To all my friends who are in post-Mardi Gras fasts with accompanying new resolutions for better living and better health, I’m sending good juju to you. I’ll be posting some healthy, DELICIOUS, fit and fab recipes that I’m discovering myself and finding mind-blowingly awesome.

Along with new healthy living mantras, there is always the resolution for more growth, expansion, self-realization and tipping towards those push goals.

I’m so excited to share with you this new mantra that has tipped me into greater action. I heard it, and then wrote it at the top of my Bullet journal. Yes, this is my new mantra and new favorite key to success à la business guru, Marie Forleo. It is…

START BEFORE YOU’RE READY!

Whether it’s a new hobby, new business direction, project, big new idea, writing a book, the trick is to start BEFORE you are ready.

Why?

Almost everyone struggles with these sticky thoughts that keep them, well… stuck.

  • “If I start now, I’m not going to be the best, or even my best. And… I might even suck.
  • “It’s not going to look perfect.”
  • “I’ll look like an idiot. No one will take me seriously.”   On and on and on and on and on….

And the truth is yes, this might be the case, but that’s because you’ll be a beginner. Everyone is beginner at some point. But, you won’t stay at beginner status for long.

Once you start, you’ll learn. You’ll move. You’ll take different actions. You’ll see different vistas. Once you take action, the terrain changes. You’ll see things you didn’t see before.

To quote Marie Forleo again,

“Clarity comes from action, not thought.”

To get some clarity on whether you like something, if a business niche is a good fit, whether the subject of your new book compels you, take some action. You can’t get clarity on thinking something to death!

Take action, and you will get clarity. And most importantly, start that thing before you feel ready. Allow yourself the space to be a beginner.

Sending love to all my peeps :-***
